Ethics and the Environment Alma Mata's Policy Alma Mata believe that it is essential to take into account the indirect effects our actions have on global health............................. Due to their detrimental effects on health that directly contradict Alma Mata’s aims, we do not accept funding from tobacco, alcohol or arms companies. . . To prevent the potential conflict of interest with our members, we will also not accept funding from pharmaceutical companies. .......... There is a scientific consensus that climate change is being caused by human activity, most notably the release of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The WHO has stated that anthropogenic climate change has the potential to adversely affect the health of hundreds of millions, particularly in the developing world. ......................................................................................................................................... . . .
