Global Health Careers Day Saturday 28th November 2009 09:00 Registration Each speaker will give a brief overview of their career to date, before discussing what they consider to be the pros and cons of their particular field of work in international health. The emphasis of the talks will be on sharing practical advice, ideas and inspiration for trainees beginning their global health careers. 0940: Andy Leather - Medical students' and junior doctors' contributions to health links Break for coffee 1130: Jonathan Fluxman, Medical Justice - Global Health in the UK See here for more information on the confirmed speakers. The plenary will include a coffee break and plenty of time for questions and discussion. 13:15 Lunch at the Sun & Doves After lunch, delegates will attend one of the two workshop sessions - the careers fair and careers clinic will run alongside the workshops during the afternoon. 14:30 - 15:15 Workshops 1 Delegates will be able to choose from 6 workshops looking at various fields of Global Health work: The workshops will explore in detail the practical aspects of each path, how to establish a career in that area and what training/experience is needed. 14:30 - 16:45 Careers Fair & Careers Clinic Need some individual advice on any of your plans but don't know who to get it from? Your hosts will be experienced doctors from all fields of global health - to explore any problem or query you may have, from general advice to specific ideas for contacts. 16:45 Informal discussion / Networking
