Join Alma Mata Global Health Network now for free!

Alma Mata was formed in 2005 with the aim of providing information on training, careers, education and research in global health.  This is achieved in three main ways; the internet, publications and conferences.  The website is the main resource and is managed and freely contributed to by our active membership.

The website, www.almamata.net, receives in excess of 2000 visitors per month.  Publications have included the results of surveys of Alma Mata members and recently have been used to inform government policy in Lord Crisp’s report “Global Health Partnerships: The UK contribution to health in developing countries.”

Alma Mata does not seek to be an 'active' organisation in campaigning or running global health projects. Active organisations for students and health professionals already exist, such as Medact and Medsin. We hope that Alma Mata will be a tool to facilitate change in global health by offering a reliable, easily accessible source of information on latest global health news and events and a tool for communication, discussion and a forum for the sharing of research.

Discounts on the 2007 conference fees are offered to Alma Mata members. It's free to join, so it makes sense to sign up now and enjoy the benefits of membership as well as the discounted fees. You can join Alma Mata at www.almamata.net.

The Alma Mata Working Group is a group of enthusiastic Alma Mata members actively involved in developing and running all aspects of the network. If you want to join the working group, or simply want more information about its activities, email us. While there are no formal positions in the working group, members cooperatively take on different projects and administrative roles according to their interests and ability to commit time. Overall responsibility for coordinating the activities of the group rotates on a four-monthly basis. New members from all backgrounds are always welcome
