Electives

Due to popular demand, we have included this section in the site for students who are planning their elective. The resource below, produced by IHMEC, is a very good start for learning more about international health issues before you set off. This will help you understand more about the context of the medical problems you will witness and perhaps help you avoid 'culture shock.'

Elective PackThe Elective Pack:
a medical student's guide to international health and development This pack, published by UCL's International Health and Medical Education Centre aims to give students the lowdown on essential topics in global health. It includes topics on infectious diseases, conflict and health, access to essential medicines as well as practical advice on planning elective work overseas.
