Semi-hosted (at arm's length) by the Working Group of the Alma Mata Global Health Network, we want to establish a relaxed, friendly, regular social event where young people interested in global health can meet, chat and exchange ideas and experiences. We look forward to meeting you!
We have the obligatory facebook group - search for Global Health Tuesdays and invite your cybermates!
BMA WEBSITE FOR INTERNATIONAL HEALTH
The BMA have launched a new section of their website focusing on their international activities. The site covers work in areas of international development, fairtrade, health worker migration and other global health campaigns. EVENTS
SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH: WHAT NEXT?
Date: Tuesday 6th October, 5 - 6pm followed by refreshments
Location: Gustav Tuck Lecture Theatre, Wilkins Building, UCL.
The Commission on Social Determinants of Health collected and synthesized global evidence on the Social Determinants of Health, and made recommendations for action on achieving health equity. As economies globally emerge from recession, there is an urgent need to take forward the two linked agendas of green growth to mitigate and adapt to climate change, and measures to improve health and reduce health inequities.
Professor Sir Michael Marmot will outline some of the responses to the Commission on Social Determinants of Health. Professor Orazio Attanasio will discuss the role of Conditional Cash Transfer programs and Dr Maria Kett will discuss the role of conventions on violence, conflict and disability within the context of Social Determinants of Health.
DISABILITY AND WOMEN’S HEALTH: EMERGING ISSUES IN AN OVERLOOKED POPULATION
Date: Thursday 8th October, 5-7pm followed by drinks
Location: Wilkins Garden Room, UCL
The UCL Global Disability Research Group is pleased to invite you to the first seminar in their UCL Futures Seminar Series: ‘Disability and Women’s Health – Emerging Issues in an Overlooked Population’

Eleonore Kofman (Professor of Gender, Migration and Citizenship,
Middlesex University)

Britain's Hidden Army of Labour').
