Mission / Vision Statement:
"The Medical Foundation is a human rights organisation that exists to enable survivors of torture and organised violence to engage in a healing process to assert their own human dignity and worth. Our concern for the health and well-being of torture survivors and their families is directed towards providing medical and social care, practical assistance, and psychological and physical therapy. It is also our mission to raise public awareness about torture and its consequences."

Main areas of interest:
The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture is a human rights organisation providing medical, psychotherapeutic, advocacy and other services as well as practical assistance to survivors of torture and political violence.
Those using the services provided by the Medical Foundation are survivors of torture and organised violence. They are both children and adults, who are now trying to cope with the pain of the effects of torture and exile. The majority of them are refugees or asylum seekers.
The Medical Foundation is committed to working with individuals and families needing assistance regardless of their country of origin, ethnic origin, gender, age, political or religious beliefs.
Provide training for health professionals working with torture survivors.
Advocacy:
Educating the public and decision-makers about the consequences of torture and similar human rights abuses.
Working to document evidence of torture and other human rights abuses.
Working to ensure that Britain honours its international obligations towards survivors of torture, asylum seekers and refugees.

Structure of Organisation:
The Medical Foundation is a charitable organisation with more than 200 paid full-time and part-time staff working with a similar number of volunteers.
