Mission / Vision Statement:
The International Center for Equal Healthcare Access (ICEHA). ICEHA is a unique non profit organization of healthcare professionals who volunteer to transfer their expertise on HIV care and infectious diseases to colleagues in developing countries.
While the recent increase in antiretroviral drug supplies is a positive step in curbing the HIV epidemic, the human resources needed to administer these drugs are woefully inadequate in most developing countries. Using an innovative method of clinical mentoring, ICEHA’s programs specifically result in the rapid scale-up of skills of the local healthcare staff and strengthen the overall quality of healthcare delivered in developing countries. This enables countries to fight the HIV epidemic from within. ICEHA was incorporated in 2001; more information is available online at www.iceha.org.
Due to increasing requests for clinical mentors from the field ICEHA announces that short-term volunteer clinical mentoring positions in Vietnam, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Lesotho are available throughout 2006 and 2007. These field opportunities are for doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants with HIV/AIDS or general infectious diseases prevention and treatment experience. Volunteer assignments are 6-12 weeks, all expenses are paid, and stipends are available for longer placements. Health professionals with pediatric experience may be eligable for 4 week assignments.

Main areas of interest:
ICEHA's volunteers equip local caregivers with the skills needed to take care of their own patients, enabling developing countries to effectively fight epidemics from within. Although antiretroviral (anti-AIDS) medication is more widely available in the developing world, the human resources needed to administer these drugs are woefully inadequate. Our clinical mentoring program, in which ICEHA's volunteers transfer their medical expertise, was specifically designed to rapidly scale up the skills of local caregivers in developing countries.
