Progress towards the MDGs is faltering badly halfway towards their target date of 2015 and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has warned "we are not on track to fulfil our commitments". The conference will explore this challenging reality and the future of the MDGs. The day will be an opportunity to share and discuss the issues relating to the MDGs with world class experts from across the Bloomsbury Colleges. Speakers will review progress so far, discuss topics intrinsic to each MDG and analyse cross-sectoral issues.

MDG 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger Professor Andrew Dorward and Colin Poulton, both SOAS
