Mission / Vision Statement:
Response International is a British based charity working for victims of violent conflict. Since its foundation in 1993, Response International has delivered programmes in Angola, Bosnia, Chechnya, Kosovo and Lebanon.
Its aim is to provide humanitarian aid in such a way as to bridge the gap between emergency relief, long term recovery and development.

Main areas of interest:

  • Primary health care provision
  • Psychosocial support
  • Training community health workers
  • Landmine action and risk education services

Structure of Organisation:
Their UK headquarters coordinates recruitment of UK, US and Irish personnel for overseas work, including nurses, doctors, surgeons and landmine specialists.
They send teams of health workers to provide emergency support services and remain to set up recovery and reconstruction programmes. One example of their work is a training scheme for paramedics to manage the effects of landmines.
Their projects aim to train local staff to take over the management of the programmes, and support them to attain independent NGO status. Senior medical consultants offer technical advice free of charge

They are currently looking for volunteers for adminstrative and support duties.
